Oshoala, Ajibade, Nnadozie Lead Super Falcons Squad for 2026 Women’s AFCON
Nigeria Unveil 25-Player Squad as Nigeria Chase Record 11th WAFCON Crown
Nigeria head coach Justine Madugu has announced a 25-player squad for the 14th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as the Super Falcons prepare to defend their continental crown in Morocco.
The squad features several of Nigeria’s most experienced and influential players, including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, midfielder Jennifer Echegini and forward Asisat Oshoala.
The Super Falcons will enter the tournament aiming to extend their record as Africa’s most successful women’s national team by winning an 11th continental title.
The competition will take place in Morocco from July 26 to August 16, 2026.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and tournament debutants Malawi, with group-stage matches scheduled to be played in Rabat, Morocco’s administrative capital.
The expanded tournament will feature 16 teams for the first time, with the four semi-finalists earning automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The fifth-placed team will secure a place in the intercontinental playoff tournament.
Nigeria secured their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title at the previous edition after defeating hosts Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final.
The Super Falcons have also maintained an impressive record at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, having appeared at every edition since the inaugural tournament in China 35 years ago.
The latest squad includes goalkeepers Chiamaka Nnadozie of Brighton, Comfort Erhabor of Portsmouth Ladies and home-based player Fatima Oloko of Abia Angels.
The defensive options feature Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Shukurat Oladipo, Rofiat Imuran, Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Sikiratu Isah and Christy Ucheibe.
In midfield, Nigeria will rely on captain Rasheedat Ajibade alongside Halimatu Ayinde, Deborah Abiodun, Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini.
The attacking department includes record-setting forward Asisat Oshoala, Gift Monday, Esther Okoronkwo, Joy Omewa, Francisca Ordega, Folashade Ijamilusi, Omorinsola Babajide, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Uchenna Kanu.
