Osimhen drops to sixth in Africa as market value plunges to 65m euros

Victor Osimhen, once Africa’s most valuable footballer, has fallen to sixth on the continent after another sharp drop in his market valuation.
In the latest September 2026 update, the Nigeria striker’s value has been cut to 65 million euros, a staggering 55 million euros below his career peak and a fall that has seen him overtaken by a new generation of African stars.
The Galatasaray forward stood at the summit of the global market in June 2023. Fresh from firing Napoli to the Serie A title as top scorer, he was valued at a career-high 120 million euros, making him the most valuable African player in the world and one of the most valuable forwards on the planet.
Three years later, that figure has almost been halved.
The September update confirms a relentless slide. From 120 million euros in June 2023, Osimhen dropped to 110 million in December 2023 and then to 100 million in June 2024. The steepest fall came in October 2024, when his valuation tumbled to 75 million euros following his protracted standoff with Napoli and his loan move to Turkey.
It fell again to 70 million in March 2025 before recovering slightly to 75 million in October 2025, a level he held through May 2026 as he rediscovered his scoring form in Istanbul.
Now comes another correction. The latest valuation has knocked 10 million euros off his price, leaving him at 65 million euros. In total, he has lost almost 46 percent of his peak value in just over three years.
The decline has cost him his African crown. At 65 million euros, Osimhen is now ranked as only the sixth most valuable African player, behind younger talents in the Premier League and La Liga who have surged past him.
Yet within Turkey, his dominance remains intact. Despite the fall, Osimhen is still number one in the entire Turkish Super Lig and number one at Galatasaray. He also remains Nigeria’s most valuable player, ranked 13th among all centre-forwards in the world and 71st overall.
His 65 million euro valuation makes him the most valuable player in the newly updated Super Lig Team of the Season, which is worth a combined 315 million euros.
