Osimhen Excited For Barcelona Clash, Reveals Galatasaray’s Game Plan
Victor Osimhen says Galatasaray are ready for their UEFA Champions League showdown with Barcelona and has outlined the approach they intend to adopt against the Spanish giants.
The Nigerian striker admitted he was excited about the encounter, which will see Galatasaray host Barcelona at RAMS Park on Wednesday, while acknowledging the challenge posed by the visitors’ quality and possession-based style.
‘I know Barcelona is one of the best teams in history, and they are the best in the world at the moment. If you are playing against a team with such quality players, you have to play with both excitement and seriousness and put pressure in the offensive zone,’ Osimhen told Sport.
The 2023 African Footballer of the Year also stressed the importance of defensive resilience against a Barcelona side renowned for dominating possession.
‘They have a lot of possession of the ball, so you have to show a certain amount of resistance in these types of games. The Barcelona match will be difficult. But to be honest, I’m very excited for this encounter, just like my teammates,’ he said.
Despite the magnitude of the fixture, Osimhen expressed confidence that Galatasaray would rise to the occasion in front of their home supporters.
‘We are ready! Regardless of the result of the match, we will leave this match with our heads held high. Playing against Barcelona at RAMS Park will be amazing,’ he added.
