Osimhen Fires Galatasaray Seven Points Clear of Fenerbahçe with 3 Games To Go

Galatasaray moved seven points clear at the top of the Turkish Super Lig after a dramatic 3-0 victory over Fenerbahçe, powered by Victor Osimhen’s first-half strike and a second-half penalty from Barış Alper Yılmaz.

Osimhen opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a spectacular effort, controlling the ball with his head before sending it into the net with his knee.

The Nigerian forward thought he had doubled his tally early in the second half, but his 54th-minute finish was ruled out for offside. Moments later, Lucas Torreira also saw a goal disallowed for offside as Galatasaray pressed for a second.

The turning point came in the 60th minute when Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Ederson, formerly of Manchester City, was shown a red card after conceding a penalty.

Yunus Akgün was brought down in the box by Jayden Oosterwolde, and referee Yasin Kol pointed to the spot. Ederson received his second yellow card following the incident and was dismissed.

Barış Alper Yılmaz stepped up in the 67th minute to convert the penalty, doubling Galatasaray’s lead.

The hosts sealed the win in the 83rd minute when Torreira pounced on a mistake by substitute goalkeeper Mert Günok, who failed to deal with a corner, allowing the Uruguayan midfielder to slot home from close range.

Osimhen came close to adding a second late on, but his effort was deflected wide.

Osimhen has now scored 20 goals in 31 games for Galatasaray this year with 13 of the goals scored in 20 Super Lig games with the remaining seven in 10 UEFA Champions League games
