Osimhen Handed Galatasaray’s No. 9 Jersey After Icardi’s Departure

Galatasaray have confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will wear the club’s famous number 9 jersey from the 2026/27 season.

Osimhen previously wore the number 45 shirt at the Turkish champions, with the number 9 jersey left vacant following Mauro Icardi’s departure.

According to reports, Galatasaray’s management deliberately waited out of respect for Icardi before handing the iconic number to Osimhen.

The Super Eagles striker, who has established himself as one of the club’s biggest stars, will now officially take over the number 9 shirt as Galatasaray prepare for the new season.

Icardi himself initially wore the number 99 jersey when he first joined Galatasaray before later taking the number 9 shirt.
