Osimhen insists: I am not leaving Galatasaray in January, not fighting to be top scorer!

Victor Osimhen has reassured Galatasaray supporters that he is not thinking about leaving the Turkish Super Lig club during the winter transfer window in January.

The Nigerian has been linked with a move to Premier League side, Chelsea in January, a claim a Napoli FC director seemed to have corroborated.

But Osimhen has said in a video interview Osimhen before the club’s evening training at Florya Metin Oktay Facilities that he is happy in Istanbul.

In the interview, he relieved story of his coming to Galatasaray, his experiences here and his injury.

“It’s a privilege for me to come here. Drogba also played here. I feel happy when I remember how the Galatasaray fans greeted me. I couldn’t be happier in a better place than here. My goal is to complete this year here. I decide my future, I don’t want others to do it,’ he said and explained how he was convinced to move to Turkey.

‘I was not happy when the first talks passed, I was going to leave after 3-4 months. At that time, I talked to the coach of Galatasaray and he convinced me very well. Both as a teacher and as a father.

‘His words moved me deeply. I knew how good the team was. I am convinced to achieve success in such a team. We are very happy to come here. We will achieve significant success,’ he said.

Osimhen says he is not fighting to be his club’s top scorer or that of the Super Lig.

‘Edin Dzeko, Mauro Icardi are very special goal scorers. I don’t put myself ahead of the team. Icardi is a big legend here. We showed how well we do together. Goals and assists are important, but I have to help Galatasaray in every sense. Top scorer is not my priority, team success is more important. I have to help my team with everything.’

Speaking about his injury, the 25-year-old said: ‘I came out in the Kasımpaşa match as a precaution. Our club doctor was very helpful. I’m going to start teamwork today. I worked hard before and during the national break. It’s the coach’s decision what happens in the next game.’
