Trabzonspor Step Up Pursuit of Tolu Arokodare
Trabzonspor have intensified their efforts to sign Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare as the Turkish club continues its search for attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season.
The Süper Lig side are in negotiations with English club Wolverhampton Wanderers over a possible loan move for the 25-year-old forward.
Reports indicate that Wolverhampton are open to the deal, provided Trabzonspor cover Arokodare’s reported annual salary package of around €1.97 million.
Arokodare, who remains keen on leaving Wolverhampton following the club’s relegation to the Championship, is understood to be interested in a move to Trabzonspor.
The opportunity to compete in European competition, including the Europa League, is believed to be a key factor in the striker’s decision.
The transfer pursuit has also received support from Nigerian international Paul Onuachu, who has reportedly encouraged his compatriot to consider joining Trabzonspor. Onuachu, who enjoyed a prolific spell at the club and finished as the Turkish Süper Lig’s top scorer during the 2025-2026 season, has provided a positive recommendation regarding the move.
Trabzonspor hope to complete negotiations quickly as they look to add further firepower to their squad. A potential partnership between Arokodare and Onuachu has already generated excitement among supporters due to the similarities in their physical profiles and playing styles.
Arokodare established himself as one of Europe’s emerging strikers during his time at Belgian club Genk, where he scored 21 league goals in the 2024-2025 season to become one of the division’s leading scorers. Standing at 1.97 metres tall, the Nigerian forward has built a reputation for his strength, aerial ability and finishing.
Onuachu, meanwhile, enjoyed another outstanding campaign after returning to Trabzonspor, scoring 21 league goals in the 2025-2026 season to claim the Süper Lig Golden Boot. The 2.01-metre striker has become one of the club’s most influential attacking figures.
