Napoli to start title defence at newcomers Frosinone
Victor Osimhen will be looking to start the 2023/24 Serie A season on a scoring note when Napoli begin their title defence at newcomers, Frosinone on August 20, 2023.
The Nigerian scored once and provided an assist on the opening day of the 2022/23 season when Napoli defeated their host, Hellas Verona at the Marcantonio Bentegodi in Verona.
Osimhen not only ended the season as Serie A’s top scorer, his 26 goals inspired Napoli to their third Scudetto and first in 33 years.
The 24 year old will also be keen to score his 60th goal for Napoli in only 102 appearances since he switched Ligue 1 side, Lille for Serie A club, Napoli.
He scored 26 times in 32 Serie A games last season, the most by an African in a single season in the Italian topflight while his 50 in 83 games since he joined the club are also the most scored by an African in the history of the competition.
