Rivers United to draw North African side in last eight of CAF Confederation Cup

Rivers United will face a North African side in the quarterfinal of the CAF Confederation Cup when the draw is held next week Tuesday in Cairo and this is authoritative.

The only Nigerian club still in contention for Continental glory this year qualified for the quarterfinal after defeating Dream FC of Ghana 2-1 in their final group game played Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. The result ensured they placed second behind the Ghanaians in their group.

Rivers United will thus not be seeded for the draw on Tuesday and can draw any of the three north African clubs who are group winners. The clubs are defending champion and group A winners, USM Alger of Algeria, Zamalek of Egypt and RS Berkane of Morocco. The rules do not allow Rivers United to draw Dream FC since they both qualified from the same group
The Nigerians will play the first leg at their adopted home in Uyo at the end of March with the return leg holding a week later.
