Samsunspor Chief Makes 2030 Title Claim, Uses Osimhen As Example

Samsunspor president Yüksel Yıldırım has set his sights on winning the Turkish Super Lig title in 2030 while using Victor Osimhen as an example to highlight Galatasaray’s reliance on the Nigerian striker.
Speaking on HT Spor, Yıldırım discussed Samsunspor’s injury problems, squad rebuilding and long-term ambitions.
Commenting on the impact of injuries, he said Galatasaray’s performances suffer significantly when Osimhen is unavailable.
‘Look, when Galatasaray doesn’t have Osimhen, the team falls apart,’ Yıldırım said.
The Nigerian striker has been an important figure for Galatasaray since joining the Istanbul club permanently from Napoli after his successful loan spell.
Yıldırım also explained that Samsunspor were forced to alter the core of their squad after receiving attractive transfer offers for several key players.
‘We broke the backbone of the team. We said ‘we will not spoil it’, but we had to break it. Because very good transfer offers came,’ he said.
The Samsunspor president said the club’s immediate target is to establish itself among the Turkish league’s top five before challenging for the title.
‘Our goal is to be the fifth biggest,’ he said. ‘We say to play for the top five.’
