Simeone Confident Lookman Could Return for Arsenal Champions League Clash

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has offered encouraging updates on the fitness of Ademola Lookman and Alexander Sorloth ahead of their Champions League semi-final against Arsenal.

Both players picked up knocks during the Copa del Rey final in Seville on Saturday, sparking fears they could miss the crucial first leg. Lookman was withdrawn in the 61st minute, while Sorloth played the final hour but missed a penalty in the shootout.

On Monday, Atletico confirmed the pair were undergoing individual recovery work, but Simeone eased concerns when speaking to Diario AS.

‘We’ll see how Sorloth and Lookman recover from their minor injuries. Hopefully, they’ll be fully fit for Saturday; it’s possible, that’s what the doctors say. Hancko is progressing very well. I don’t think we’re counting on Gimenez yet,’ he said.
