Tinubu Approves Nigeria’s Hosting of CAF Congress and Awards

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has given official approval for Nigeria to host two major continental football events this year: the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the prestigious CAF Awards Ceremony.

The announcement was made during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, following a meeting between President Tinubu and CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

Also present were Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), Special Adviser to the CAF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick (OFR), and CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.

The CAF Ordinary General Assembly, scheduled for October, will gather presidents of CAF’s 54 Member Associations, representatives from the six zonal unions, and senior football officials from across Africa.

This assembly serves as a key platform for shaping the future of African football governance and development.

Meanwhile, the CAF Awards will celebrate the continent’s finest football talents in a glamorous ceremony that highlights excellence, achievement, and the spirit of African football.

Known for its glitz and grandeur, the event honors players, coaches, and teams who have made outstanding contributions to the sport.
