Villarreal President: I’m not aware of Real Madrid’s interest in Chukwueze

Villarreal President Fernando Roig Alfonso says he is not aware of Real Madrid’s interest in their Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze.

The Nigerian had his best season in Spain in the just ended campaign, scoring 13 times and provided 11 assists in 50 games across all competitions.

The Nigerian’s impressive season was highlighted by his man-of-the-match display in Villarreal’s 3-2 defeat of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in April, scoring twice to help the Yellow Submarine come from 2-1 down after 48 minutes to win the game.

His 13 goals and 50 appearances are the most he has achieved in a single season since he started playing for Villarreal’s senior team in 2018 and the Nigerian has been linked with a move away from the club.

The 24 year old’s contract expires next June and there are speculations the yellow Submarine would want to cash in on the Nigerian.

‘We do not have any kind of news at the moment on Real Madrid’s interest in Chukwueze,’ Alfonso told Spanish outlet, Marca.

The Villarreal boss also revealed Chukwueze has a release clause although he did not reveal the amount.

Chukwueze has featured 207 times across all competitions for Villarreal and scored 37 goals.
