West Ham 3-2 Fulham: Iwobi hits 3rd Premier League brace to set personal goal scoring record in a season

Alex Iwobi scored his first goals in 15 Premier League games against West Ham at the London stadium Tuesday night to set a personal goal scoring record in a Premier League season.

The 28 year old netted a brace, his third in the history of the competition to take his total tally to seven in 21 games, the most he has scored in a Premier League season.

He scored twice in the second half, but his goals were not enough as his side, Fulham, lost to their host, West Ham.

Last season, the Fulham midfielder netted five times in 30 games to set the record he has now broken.

He has also moved above Obafemi Martins to seventh in the Nigeria all-time top scorers’ list in the competition with his 29 goals.

Iwobi’s goal also means he has also moved above Yakubu Aiyegbeni for the most shots fired by a Nigerian in the history of the competition.

Aiyegbeni fired 332 shots in 252 Premier League games for four clubs, while Iwobi has fired 334 in 274 appearances for three different clubs.

The loss is also Iwobi’s 103rd in the 274 matches he has featured in, just behind Shola Ameobi (116) and Aiyegbeni (108).
