William Troost-Ekong: We Have Started To Believe In Ourselves

Super Eagles vice captain William Troost-Ekong says the team will not underrate Guinea-Bissau in their final group D game of the on-going 33rd Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroun.

Nigeria is already through to the round of 16 and will top the group irrespective of the results in the two final group games but Troost-Ekong says the Eagles will work the same win they have done in their first two group D games to win.

”Tomorrow we will face a strong opponent and we will work the same way to win. I have experience in this competition and try to use it to improve. We started to believe in ourselves after a series of failures and now we continue to do well and we will improve even more. We have two challenges, the Africa Cup of Nations and reaching the World Cup. Nothing is easy and we all pledge to fight for each of them,’ said the Watford of England central defender.

Troost-Ekong is making his second appearance in the competition after making his debut three years ago at the 32nd edition in Egypt.

He will be playing his ninth game in the tournament since he featured in the 1-0 defeat of Burundi in June 2019 and has started all previous eight games in the competition.
