NSC applauds Tinubu’s grand gesture to Super Falcons after historic WAFCON triumph

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has extended heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his extraordinary recognition of the Super Falcons, following their dramatic comeback victory over Morocco to clinch their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
In a thrilling final in Rabat, Nigeria’s Super Falcons overturned a two-goal deficit to defeat the host nation 3–2, reaffirming their dominance in African women’s football.
To honor this achievement, President Tinubu unveiled a reward package that includes:
$100,000 for each player
$50,000 for each member of the technical and backroom staff
A three-bedroom apartment in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate, Abuja
National honours: Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) for all players and staff.
NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko hailed the President’s gesture as a landmark moment for Nigerian sports.
‘President Tinubu is a leader who nurtures and rewards excellence. His unwavering support and visionary leadership have given our sports ecosystem a clear direction,’ Dikko said.
The celebration at the Presidential Villa was attended by dignitaries including the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima.
The Falcons, led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, presented the WAFCON trophy to the President in a moment of national pride.
