Fiorentina Exit Opens Door for Trabzonspor to Sign Arokodare

Trabzonspor have gained a major advantage in their pursuit of Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare after Fiorentina were forced to withdraw from the race for the 25-year-old forward.

The Italian club reportedly filled its non-European Union player quota after signing Christ Inao Oulai, forcing them to shelve their interest in Arokodare.

As a result, Trabzonspor are now believed to be the leading contender for the Nigerian striker as they look to replace Augusto, who joined Zenit St Petersburg in a deal worth €15 million plus €5 million in bonuses.

Trabzonspor are expected to resume negotiations with Arokodare and his club Wolverhampton.

The Turkish side have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with the 1.97-metre striker, who is said to have given the green light to a move after speaking with compatriot Paul Onuachu.

The Turkish club are reportedly preparing a loan offer with an option to buy for Arokodare, who is under contract with Wolverhampton until 2029 and currently has a market value of €20 million.

Arokodare joined the English club for €24 million after scoring 23 goals in 39 official appearances for Genk last season. He scored six goals in 38 matches during his first campaign in England.

The Nigerian striker is known for his physical strength, aerial ability and finishing inside the penalty area. Arokodare is a powerful presence in attack and is particularly effective when holding up the ball with his back to goal.

His ability to compete with opposing centre-backs and bring teammates into play makes him an ideal target-man option, especially for a team that relies on direct football and long balls.
