Galatasaray Fear Longer Osimhen Layoff After Serious Muscle Injury

Galatasaray have warned they will not rush Victor Osimhen back from a serious muscle injury involving significant bleeding, despite encouraging progress in the Nigerian striker’s recovery.

Club Doctor Yener İnce said Osimhen’s treatment was going well and that the forward had resumed some team activities, but further medical tests would determine when he could return to action.

‘Osimhen’s treatment is going very well. He had serious bleeding in the muscle group. He suffered a considerable injury,’ İnce said.

He disclosed that the medical team drained the resulting haematoma using a different method, leaving the striker more comfortable.

‘We drained the haematoma with a different method. The player became even more relaxed. His treatment continues,’ he added.

Although Osimhen participated in some team work on Wednesday, İnce stressed that Galatasaray would not risk aggravating the injury by bringing him back prematurely.

‘He participated in some of the work with the team yesterday. However, we do not want to risk him. We will decide according to the results we get from the tests we have done,’ the club doctor said.

İnce acknowledged that Galatasaray needed the Nigerian international but insisted that avoiding a longer absence was more important than rushing his return.

‘Instead of losing the player for a longer time, we need to move forward according to the test results. Yes, we need him, but we will try to protect him as much as possible,’ he said.

The doctor also dismissed social media speculation that Osimhen had missed team training after arriving at the club because of the muscle injury.

He explained that the striker initially had an upper respiratory tract infection and was kept out of group training for two days, working separately from his teammates.

Galatasaray have yet to announce a return date for Osimhen, with his availability dependent on further medical assessments.
