No Retreat, No Surrender: Cherki Says Man City Not Giving Up in Premier League Title Race
Manchester City forward Rayan Cherki insists the team will fight until the very end of the season as they look to close the gap on leaders Arsenal in the Premier League.
City, currently five points behind the Gunners with a game in hand, begin their final run‑in against Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening. The French international says the squad’s mindset is clear: win every remaining match, including the upcoming FA Cup final.
‘It’s focusing on every game,’ Cherki told the club’s website. ‘To be determined every second of the week, every moment we’re on the pitch, so that we can improve and be even better at the weekend. As long as there’s hope, there’s life, so we’re not going to give up.’
Cherki has impressed in his debut season since joining from Lyon, scoring 10 goals and providing 14 assists across all competitions. He credited manager Pep Guardiola for giving him freedom to express his attacking instincts while maintaining a strong team ethic.
‘Working with Pep is extraordinary because he has a vision of football very similar to mine, always having the ball, always wanting to attack, always wanting to create,’ Cherki said.
With Arsenal set to face West Ham on Sunday, City know victory against Brentford would cut the gap to just two points, keeping the title race alive heading into the final weeks.
